Section 52A(1) of the High Court Ordinance encompasses jurisdiction to award costs of an amicus; on the facts the plaintiffs' late abandonment after extensive preparation and imminent hearing rendered the appointment of the amicus a wasted but necessary expense and justified a costs order. Exercising that discretion, the court ordered the plaintiffs to pay two thirds of the amicus' costs to be taxed unless agreed.
