The Court refused leave to appeal and upheld the convictions: the jury were properly directed, evidence (including contemporaneous complaints and forensic findings) was strong, severance was unlikely and taken as instructed by the accused, exhibit D4 was adduced with advice and ameliorative directions, and the directions on recklessness and spontaneity were appropriate because those issues arose on the evidence; therefore no lurking doubt or unfair trial was established.
