On rehearing the appellate judge found the Magistrate properly analysed and rejected the appellant's account as inherently improbable, the volume and pattern of deposits inconsistent with declared income, the invoices lacked corroborative detail and could not establish genuine trading, the available WhatsApp material did not support the defence and counsel's conduct did not amount to flagrant incompetence; on the whole the prosecution proved the appellant had reasonable grounds to believe the funds were proceeds of indictable offences beyond reasonable doubt.
