Appeals 950 and 953 were dismissed because the substantial quantities of counterfeit or fraudulently marked watches and the deliberate course of action justified custodial sentences given the real risk of damage to trade reputation and export to unsophisticated markets; Appeal 952 was allowed in part because only ten of 389 watches bore forged marks, the appellant had a clear record, and substitution of fines better served justice, resulting in quashing imprisonment and imposing fines with default imprisonment provisions.
