The trial judge erred by selecting a starting point of 14 years; an appropriate starting point for possession of 2.2 kg for trafficking is 12 years. After applying a 4 year discount for mitigating factors (guilty plea, youth, clear record and offer of assistance of limited value) the proper sentence is 8 years imprisonment, and the sentence should be reduced accordingly.
