The appeal was dismissed because the magistrate's approach and sentence were within an acceptable range: the conduct was akin to pickpocketing, the offence was committed very shortly after arrival which undermined the appellant's claimed desperation and job-offer mitigation, there was no supporting evidence for the alleged job offer, and deterrence justified the imposed term; therefore the sentence was upheld.
