On the balance of probabilities the court found plaintiff proved she held the beneficial ownership of Cargo A and Cargo B by documentary evidence and credible witness testimony; defendant had no lawful title or authority to sell or retain the goods and therefore committed conversion; defendant’s counterclaim and third‑party claim were dismissed; plaintiff entitled to damages equal to the purchase price, interest, storage costs and immediate payment of the RMB 1,100,000 court deposit and interest.
