The trial judge erred in principle by applying Chan Chi Ming tariffs for hard drugs to cannabis; courts treat cannabis as attracting lower sentences than hard drugs and, having regard to the quantity (852.30g), guilty plea and clean record, the appropriate sentence is two years imprisonment rather than four years.
