The Deputy Registrar held that Sections 17 & 18 of the UK Judgments Act 1838 are persuasive and apply in Hong Kong for this purpose; therefore an order for costs is a judgment debt and interest on taxed costs runs from the date of judgment (11 December 1989) at the judgment interest rates applicable from that date until payment, with costs of the summons awarded to the Applicant.
