Given the probation and training-centre reports that the appellant was beyond parental control, deceitful and unsuitable for open supervision, and in the absence of viable statutory closed-probation facilities for girls over 16, the magistrate's imposition of a Training Centre Order was a lawful exercise of sentencing discretion and the appeal against sentence was dismissed.
