Because the applicant actually provided substantial, effective assistance by giving evidence in three trials that led to convictions, the Court held that an increased discount to the original starting points was justified; accordingly the Court reduced the sentences to reflect a two‑thirds discount of the original starting points and substituted consecutive terms totalling three years, reducing the aggregate sentence from 4.5 years to 3 years.
