Order 10 r.1 applies to service on a limited company subject to the modification in Ord.65 r.3(2); on the evidence the plaintiff failed to prove the company’s registered or principal office remained at the Tsim Sha Tsui address so service on D1 was ineffective; the Tsim Sha Tsui address was nevertheless one of D2's last known addresses to the plaintiff so service on D2 was effective; where the outcome depends on witness credibility the court assesses whether the defendant could well be believed at trial and D2 met that test, so both default judgments were correctly set aside unconditionally.
