Objective circumstances (receipt of a very large unexplained sum in cash, immediate onward transfer of a substantial portion, and absence of any innocent explanation) provided reasonable grounds to believe the funds were proceeds of crime and the applicant was subjectively aware of those grounds; the trial judge correctly applied the two-stage test and his inferences were open on the evidence, so the application to overturn conviction failed.
