Because the s54A report established that the applicant is a long-term drug-dependent who had never previously received treatment and was suitable for a Drug Addiction Treatment Centre, the Court set aside the trafficking conviction and eleven-year sentence, substituted a conviction for possession of 113 grammes of methamphetamine and ordered placement in a Drug Addiction Treatment Centre.
