By majority the Court of Appeal held the 1st and 3rd Applicants' original sentences were manifestly inadequate given the seriousness of conduct (orchestrating access to and public exposure of a fragile witness, sham habeas corpus proceedings, use of press and the 3rd Applicant's role as a solicitor); therefore the Secretary for Justice's review was allowed and the court quashed and substituted longer terms (1st Applicant 5 years, 3rd Applicant 6 years).
