Where a driver exceeds speed limits citing a passenger's ill-health, the court will require evidence that the condition amounted to an acute emergency necessitating urgent action; mere illness, vomiting or suspicion of pregnancy without acute distress does not amount to special reasons under s.8(3), therefore the accumulated points justified disqualification.
