The court held that the objective test remains that of a commonsense right‑thinking member of the community rather than a profession‑specific standard; on the admitted facts the pattern of transactions and the applicant's conduct (turning a blind eye) provided grounds which he knew and which a right‑thinking person would regard as sufficient to believe the funds were proceeds of indictable offences, therefore the conviction and six‑year sentence were safe.
