A transient defect of reason induced by taking a non-prescription drug, where there is no underlying disease in the body and the condition subsides on withdrawal, does not constitute a "disease of the mind" under the M'Naghten Rules; therefore there was insufficient evidential basis to leave insanity to the jury and the application for a certificate to appeal to the Court of Final Appeal is dismissed.
