The appeal is dismissed and the concurrent sentences of 12 months imprisonment are upheld because, although the aggregate sum misappropriated was modest, the offences involved a gross and sustained breach of trust against vulnerable victims (including members of the appellant's own community) and the appellant's motive to repay prior dishonest conduct did not amount to mitigation sufficient to undermine the sentence.
