On proper construction s 161(1)(c) does not extend to the use by a person of his or her own computer absent access to another’s computer; 'obtains access to a computer' in s 161 requires conduct of accessing another’s computer or unauthorized extraction/use of information, so the appeal fails and convictions cannot be sustained.
