Forensic evidence established that the cheques had been altered in payee and amounts, the signer corroborated that the original cheques were for small school fees, appellant was the person who cashed the altered cheques and obtained HK$60,000; the trial judge properly assessed credibility and reliability and absence of oral evidence from the bank manager did not render the trial unfair; sentencing (6 months reduced to 5 months for repayment) was within an appropriate range and not manifestly excessive — therefore convictions and sentence are upheld.
