The Court found the trial judge erred in using 12 years as the starting point and in giving excessive discounts to the principal offenders; the appropriate starting point was in the region of 15 years, adjusted to 14 years for the two main culprits (Yim and Wong) and to 7 years for Law (in recognition of his plea and assistance); Cheung's sentence of 5 years was upheld as not manifestly inadequate or wrong in principle.
