The applicant proved a substantial change in that he lost his job in March 2020, but he failed to prove that his bankruptcy application or his claimed low income were sufficiently established; because the applicant retained some earning capacity and did not provide adequate evidence of a sustained income at the level he claimed, the court would not make a major reduction but an appropriate moderate reduction was justified; accordingly maintenance was reduced from HKD 5,500 to HKD 4,000 per month effective 1 November 2021.
