There was insufficient evidence to convict the applicant as a party to the joint enterprise; the only direct conduct linking him was driving the van and ownership/hire evidence offered a plausible innocent explanation, and the trial judge was not entitled to infer guilt merely from association and the fact others would not have brought an uninvolved driver along; convictions therefore quashed.
