On the balance of probabilities the court found the US$5,000 was connected to and/or received as a result of the defendant's drug trafficking: the defendant had admitted a reward would be paid, was intercepted with the cash, had no credible independent means, and his explanations and supporting witness evidence were rejected as insufficient to rebut the prosecution's prima facie case; accordingly items P20 and P21 (US$5,000) were forfeited to the Government under s56(1).
