Where drugs of similar potency are involved the combined approach is preferred; applying the combined approach using Ice as the base, the court set a starting point of 7 years 9 months, reduced it by 10% for proven self-consumption and then by one third for the guilty plea, resulting in a substituted sentence of 4 years 8 months; the original sentence was manifestly excessive.
