Section 23(1) of the Crown Proceedings Ordinance bars attachment of wages or salary payable by the Crown; consequently an attachment order against the respondent's salary could not be made and the cross-appeal seeking such relief is dismissed. The committal order for imprisonment was discharged because its execution would likely produce disproportionate harm (job and pension loss) undermining the enforcement purpose, but arrears may be attached to the respondent's lump sum pension and current maintenance orders were otherwise maintained.
