    Given the circumstances (bridge with spectators and children, no pavement, probable 10 m.p.h. limit, defendant driving about 30 m.p.h., failure to keep proper lookout and absence of adequate braking/skid marks) the defendant breached his duty of care; the plaintiff, a seven-year-old who ran into the road without ensuring it was clear, was contributorily negligent. Liability apportioned 60% to defendant and 40% to plaintiff.
