A Master retains jurisdiction to grant an interim stay even after service of a notice of appeal to a Judge in Chambers; on the evidence the interim stay was justified because the taxation order raised serious issues of proportionality and oppression and the appeal would be rendered nugatory without a stay; accordingly the stay was granted and certain reserved costs caused by erroneous procedure were ordered paid by the PLs.
