Counsel's failure to challenge the weight and reliability of an incriminating cautioned statement before the jury, contrary to the appellant's instructions, constituted such serious professional error and a material irregularity under s 83(i)(c) of the Criminal Procedure Ordinance that the conviction was unsafe; appeal allowed, conviction and sentence quashed and retrial ordered under ss 83E and 83F.
