- Court of Appeal
- Case number
- CACC335/2010
Leave to appeal against sentence was refused; the appellate court found the sentencing judge's approach and reductions were within permissible discretion given the aggravating features (large sums, false identities, active operation, international element) and, although a higher notional starting point might have been appropriate, interference was not warranted; the court also held that rigid guidelines are undesirable but identified factors judges must consider when sentencing money laundering offences.
