Because the defendant solicitors were retained as solicitors and carried out work all of which was ancillary to and connected with the sale of Henredon Court, that work falls within the statutory definition of non-contentious business under the LPO; accordingly the court has jurisdiction under s65 to order delivery of a bill of costs covering all work connected to the sale regardless of how the solicitors label it; further, any claim for an agreed percentage fee is defeated by s56 absence of a written signed agreement.
