The magistrate did not err in principle: given the unchallenged facts (60 foot skid mark, police braking test, road conditions, guilty plea) it was reasonable to infer the appellant's speed for sentencing; the death was relevant context for imposing a severe sentence and disqualification; the sentence of $1,000 fine, three months' imprisonment and five years' disqualification was not excessive and the appeal is dismissed.
