Where two or more lorries are engaged in a joint manoeuvre, a flagman placed to warn pedestrians has a continuing duty to do so and if he leaves his post before completion he must take active steps to warn the drivers; failure to do so that materially contributes to injury renders the flagman and his employer liable for contribution (here assessed at 40%), subject to procedural requirements for varying judgments against parties previously found not liable.
