The Court held that the global starting point of 11 years for the robbery was within the permissible range given the sheer number, nature and seriousness of discrete aggravating features (premeditation and travel to commit the offence, stalking, detention and tying, administration of drug, assaults, prolonged captivity, extraction of card details, and harm to victim and Hong Kong's reputation); there was no impermissible double counting and the concurrent and consecutive components were appropriate, so the total sentence of 9 years 8 months was not manifestly excessive.
