The Court of Appeal refused to disturb the trial judge's factual findings and credibility assessments because no misdirection or demonstrable error was shown; however, on detailed review the court adjusted specific elements of the quantum where the judge's use of competing estimates or misunderstandings of expert testimony produced an excessive award, resulting in dismissal of the plaintiffs' appeal and allowance in part of the defendants' cross-appeal with total damages reduced to $227,600.
