The court held that the trial judge complied with s.80 by providing adequate reasons and by accepting the victim's evidence; he was not required to analyse peripheral credibility conflicts unsupported by independent evidence nor to recall the prosecution witness suo motu, and therefore leave to appeal against conviction was refused.
