The word 'British' in the Trust Deed adds a political/jurisdictional qualification: beneficiaries must be amenable to the jurisdiction of the courts of the sovereign of the United Kingdom; accordingly the trustee may pay income to charities registered in Hong Kong or the United Kingdom until 30 June 1997 but after that date only to charities registered in the United Kingdom.
