Forensic evidence proved the customer receipt had been physically joined to a differently numbered counterfoil and altered (missing/erased serial digit); the validating machine was found to be operating correctly and machine malfunction was rejected; the defendant's explanations were not credible; therefore the only reasonable inference was deliberate forgery and uttering with intent to obtain the lottery prizes, constituting uttering a forged document and an attempt to obtain property by deception.
