- Court
- Court of Appeal
- Case number
- CACC415/2008
The court held that life imprisonment was correctly imposed despite the offender's youth because he posed a long-term danger to the public and the murder was premeditated, callous and accompanied by lack of remorse; the sentencing judge properly exercised discretion to impose life; however, having regard to the limited mitigating effect of the guilty plea the minimum term was reduced from 22 years to 20 years as the appropriate punitive and deterrent period.
