Convictions were upheld because the appellate court found the evidence proved guilt beyond reasonable doubt and no procedural unfairness; although the sentencing judge acted within discretion in imposing immediate custody for public interest and deterrence, the appellate court adjusted the sentence to permit immediate release in view of time already spent in custody and to avoid a short further imprisonment that served no additional purpose.
