The defendant failed to specifically traverse the essential allegation that the subletting occurred without the landlord's prior written consent; a general traverse does not suffice for such an essential allegation, therefore that element was deemed admitted and the trial judge rightly entered summary judgment for possession and mesne profits and properly refused the late amendment as prejudicial and inadequately pleaded.
