Because section 7 creates a distinct offence of assisting under s7(1)(c) which cannot be prosecuted without the Attorney General's consent, a conviction under s7(1)(a) cannot stand where the magistrate's findings leave it open that the accused may have been merely an aider/abettor; accordingly the conviction was unsafe and must be set aside.
