Sentences imposed in respect of separate charge sheets on separate occasions by the same judge are not sentences imposed "on the same occasion" for the purposes of s82(2)(a) and therefore the proviso limiting aggregate sentences to seven years does not apply; consequently the District Court was not deprived of jurisdiction to impose consecutive sentences across separate sittings and the appeal against sentence is dismissed.
