The Court, having dismissed the appeal and received the respondents' costs statement without any timely response from the applicant, found the time recorded and the claimed amount to be plainly reasonable and awarded assessed costs in the full sum of HK$12,743.33 to the first to eighth recommended respondents.

The court reduced excessive time entries for sections C and D from 9 to 6 hours each, found counsel's fee reasonable, and summarily assessed the total recoverable costs at HK$113,000 in favour of the plaintiff, granting a certificate for counsel.

Applying the party-and-party standard, the court allowed the claimed hourly rate of HK$4,000 for the qualified fee earner, upheld photocopy and attendant charges under the Rules, allowed short attendances and routine correspondence, but reduced the claimed time for preparation and research from 30h50m to 10h and reduced perusal time from 5h10m to 4h as excessive; the result was an assessed costs award of HK$65,683 payable by the defendant to the plaintiff.
