Given the appellant's persistent drug-related offending and comparatively large quantity of drugs, but having regard to Court of Appeal guidance that persistent simple possession offenders should generally attract sentences in the 6–9 month range and that addiction does not justify disproportionate punishment, the 15-month sentence was excessive and was reduced to nine months imprisonment.
