The Court dismissed the applications for extension of time because the applicants offered neither substantial nor credible explanations for multi‑year delays and their proposed grounds of appeal were wholly unmeritorious and not plainly arguable; nevertheless, the Court exercised its discretion under s83W(1) to order that 2 months of custody pending determination of their applications not be reckoned as part of their sentences.
