The Court found apparent bias arising from the Chairman's disputed telephone conversation as recounted in the letter, reduced the aggregate financial penalty from HKD 370,000 to HKD 250,000, varied the commencement date of the practising-certificate conditions to 1 June 2017, set aside the SDT's indemnity costs order and ordered costs before the SDT to be on a party-and-party basis (subject to assessment), with costs of the appeal to be borne by the Law Society and assessed on the nisi timetable set out by the Court.
