The correct method is to aggregate the total heroin hydrochloride across the related offences and apply the applicable tariff (Lau Tak-ming); apply a reduction for guilty plea; where the trial judge erred in principle the appellate court must reassess and may substitute a lesser sentence — accordingly the sentence of seven years is varied to six years.
