Because the employer had effectively waived the employee’s attendance and the courses were unnecessary or valueless to the employee, the employer's promise to provide training was illusory and furnished no consideration; consequently the covenant requiring the employee to pay one third of his remuneration was unenforceable and the appeal fails.
